Can't load data files

Shortly after upgrading to 1.3a, I find that I can't load the d20 data files. I've been able to get in before, but today when I try, it comes up with an error message:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Cannot create core run-time file: c:\program files\herolab\Data\d20\core.hlz

It only offers an "OK" button to click. it then says it's "Compiling Data Files For Game System. Please Wait." and then comes back with the same error message as before but minus the first paragraph above.

When I try to re-download the data file I got this error message:

Error writing file to the disk. Please check to make sure that your disk can be written to and that you have sufficient disk space available.

I'm running Vista Home Premium and only have one hard disk and it has plenty of space available on it.

Any help?

Hmm, that's an issue we haven't seen before. Let's see if we can fix the problem... when you run Hero Lab, instead of just clicking on the shortcut to launch it, right-click it and select "Run as Administrator". Does that fix things for you?

Hopefully you'll just need to run it as administrator once, and then after that it'll "just work".

So if you don't run as administrator, it doesn't work at all? That's
very strange... did you make any configuration changes before
reinstalling, such as disabling UAC, or maybe running under a different
user?
