Cannot select Ethnicity after update

I cannot select any ethnicity on the background tab for NEW portfolios after updating to Hero Lab v7.6b and Pathfinder 12.18.

Existing portfolios with an ethnicity already selected still work as expected, however if you delete the ethnicity, the tab disappears and you cannot then select one.

Most confused.

Anyone else run into this issue?

The Ethnicity section on the Background tab only display if you have a specific book that has "Ethnicity" check marked.

For example for a Dwarf you must have "People of the Sands" book check marked to get the option. Otherwise you will not see the option.

Which "race" are you trying and which "Books" do you have checked marked?

P.S. - Ethnicity is working fine for me...

No dice I'm afraid.

I try to build a new portfolio with Races of the North and Inner Sea Races checked.

I select a Human and am given the option of adding alternate Racial Traits, but the option to select an Ethnicity does not appear below that?

Most frustrating as my custom content makes use of Ethnicity!

What can I have done.

not experiencing that either. as soon as i select human i see Ethnicitys right under the Alternate Racial Traits option. maybe something else you have checked in the configure character is turning the use of ethnicitys off? scrolling through my list i couldn't find anything obvious that turned it off. can you post a .por file so can see what all you have checked/unchecked?

if you went and did the 12.19 update, then per the instructions in the sticky you are to revert back to 12.18 until they fix all the issues.

So you have custom .user files you have made. Have you tried temporally moving your .user files out of the data\pathfinder folder to see if the issue still happens?

The only thing I can think of is you are setting the field rGiveSpec to zero.

Just as a note there is a pre-built procedure in the community stuff called (GiveEthnic) that will correctly setup Ethnicities for a race.

I went to build a new portfolio with Inner Sea Races ticked, chose Human, but still no ethnicity appeared.

This problem has repeated itself on two other machines of mine, so as the common denominator, I guess PEBKAC must apply.

What I find odd is that an existing portfolio is working, but a new one does not. Furthermore, when I deselect the ethnicity from the existing portfolio, I can re-select it, but if I change the race then the ethnicity tab disappears, never to come back.

I would defiantly put in an official bug report about this issue.

Only last idea is to post two .por files to this thread. One working and one not working. I can try and take a look and see what I can see.

If, on the other hand, I make sure I select Inner Sea World Guide for my hero, ethnicity come back!

I really should stop fiddling with things and forgetting what I have done.
