Cabalist Archetype

Hey everyone,

NOTE - I gave up on the archetype because I can't figure out how to replace the spellbook with spontaneous casting using the archetype. So I started to create a new class entirely.

So I'm at a bit of a crossroads here. Last time I tried to create a custom user file in HL I was quite unsuccessful. I don't even know where to begin for half of the stuff I would need to create an archetype in Hero Lab.

So I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out with a custom archetype for the Cabalist:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/bas...uper-genius-games---magus-archetypes/cabalist

I haven't been able to find a HL User file for this anywhere, but I figured it would be quite popular.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm happy to help you get past a specific problem, but I do not have the time to read an archetype and implement it all for you.

If you have specific places where you're stuck, please describe those places.

Time Issues

Actually, I'm in the same boat as you. I'll try to get started on the Cabalist over the next week and post my progress. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get stuck on the part where I need to replace the magus' spell progression with the bard's spontaneous progression but keep the magus spell list.

Got most of it.

Well, I have the archetype almost complete. Now I just need to figure out how to implement the spellcasting changes. Turning a Magus into a spontaneous caster. Here's the description:

The cabalist does not gain cantrips and spells per day as a typical magus does. Instead, the cabalist gains cantrips, spells known, and spells per day as a bard of the same level (though still using the magus class spell list). If a cabalist selects the harmonic blending, jinx blending, or spell blending magus arcanas, he gains the selected spells as bonus spells known.

Any help would be appreciated here.

Thank you!

Edit: I was oh-so-wrong. Couldn't get bloodline powers to work, either. I think I'm just going to make a bard copy, remove almost everything except the spontaneous casting and start from scratch with a new class.

Would love to know if anyone has made progress with this as I'm going to be playing a Cabalist in a Way of the Wicked game soon

So yeah, late on the reply here, sorry.

Changing the spellcasting type would require deleting the CasterType.MemBook tag from the Magus class helper and adding a CasterType.SpontKnow tag in it's place. Then you'd have to fill in the arrays for spells known "cKnowTot" and change the spells per day "cCastMax" array

If the listed Arcana already apply the tags to expand the spell list, they should still work. Otherwise, you'll have to make new copies that replace the old ones, which apply ClsAllowSp tags to the class helper.

Alright. I'm using this as I got this to mostly work as class. Have not gotten it to work as an archetype yet.

Using the class builder I am able to get bloodlines to work or Magus Arcana. By the archetype I add a bloodline on at level 7. In exchange I get a sorcerer bloodline and the bloodline arcana

At 7th level, a cabalist gains access to the bloodline arcana and bloodline powers from one sorcerous bloodline, using his magus level as his sorcerer level. The cabalist does not gain access to the bloodline’s class skills or bonus spells. The cabalist does add the bloodline’s bonus feats to the list of feats he may take as magus bonus feats.

This ability replaces the knowledge pool ability.

Obviously I need to code in the adding the bloodline feats as bonus feats, but its not my worry. There is a second part I need to get in I figure I will simply do some juggling to get it to work. It involves at 19th level I get the bloodline spells, but I'm not worried about that or when I get them currently.

My main question is how do I get Magus Arcana and Bloodline to both work. I entered Bloodline as the custom and that works fine, but if I enter Magus Arcana as a secondary ability it does not work. It shows it in the class, but when I click it I get "Nothing to choose from" as a message.

If flip them around I get the same message on bloodlines and the Magus Arcana works. I just need them to both work together and let me make to selections.

As a quick fix, I just went with entering it as a regular class. I still haven't entered everything, though.

I was just coming on the forums to check out to see if anyone did this as well. I'm very interested in playing one, but it sounds like it'd be beyond my own mere 'Lab programming ability. Even the explanation lost me, lol.

Still wondering what became of this. If it's only partially complete can the OP at least post what they have?

Bumping to keep current. If nobody is working on this, I may have to add it to my "To-Do" list. I'll be getting more time available once the baby is born and I'm on night shift. Any progress that's been made though would be great.

Hm. Due to some pretty extreme life events that happened shortly after my original post, this sort-of fell off of my radar. Roleplaying in general fell off of my radar for a bit, my computer was not at my disposal and random other sucky-life things 'n stuff.

But...I'm back. And still looking for a good Cabalist Magus build for Hero Lab. I might sit down next weekend and just...I dunno, push one out? Sounds like a plan to me. We'll see what happens. I've completely forgotten how to get the progress that I had before, so it'll be an experiment, to say the least.

I think I'll start with a bard for the spell progression, CHA-based bonuses and spontaneous casting, strip it bare, then start building up from there.

Yeah, I had started on this archetype and realized (with some help from Shadow) that it was beyond my skill to implement. Would love to see this happen though.
