Another Realm Works Beta release can now be downloaded (build 0.9.101.143). This version is available to all Beta team members AND all Kickstarter backers. This new Beta includes a few bug fixes and enhancements. Please note that syncing is now open to Pack Hunter and above.

Important general items about this release:

  • This release doesn't contain any new features but fixes bugs that have been pestering a number of folks.
  • The server requires this release to be able to sync to it. You should still be able to run the old version offline. But to sync, you will need to upgrade to this version.
  • Working offline does not require entering a password. Any password you've entered will be ignored when you click the "Work Offline" button.
  • If you encounter any crashes, please send the crash reports so we can figure out the problem and fix it quickly. Be sure to include a description of what you were doing prior to the crash, as that will help us figure out the problem significantly faster.

Here's a list of the important enhancements and bug fixes in this release:

  • Realm Works will automatically eliminate orphan starting point topics if they are empty and have not been synced to the server. If the topics have been synced or they are not empty, we will show the same error message a few of you have seen about "Too many realm starting points defined". If you encounter this error, please open a support case at the bug report link below.
  • Realm Works will automatically eliminate a duplicate calendar mapping that hasn't been synced to the server. If a duplicate has been found and cannot be automatically repaired, a message about "Too many calendar mappings defined" will be shown and you should then open a support case at the bug report link below.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred when you renamed a topic to match an alias at the same time as you rename the alias to match the topic.
  • Fixed an issue when editing domains that could cause a crash.
  • Fixed so that data is sent to and from the server in smaller batches at a time. This will hopefully allow some people who were unable to successfully sync large realms to now be able to sync them.
  • If you have synced a realm up to the server and attempt to sync it down to a computer with a backup of the realm from before the realm was synced up, you will get a 301 error.

The details for accessing this new release are the same as previous ones. All the rules for access and accounts are unchanged. Please report any issues to us and we'll work to get things fixed as quickly as possible.

NOTE! We have NOT yet solved all the issues that have been plaguing various folks. We've fixed a number of them and have made sure that users can no longer get stuck by a couple of bugs that were previously biting folks. However, we're still working to properly fix a few known issues, and the remaining known bugs will hopefully all be resolved next week.
