Bug, or User Error

Okay guys,

I've embarrassed myself and wasted Lone Wolf's time twice already by reporting bugs that were actually user errors, so I figured I would check with you guys to see if anyone else has (or has had) this problem before bothering them once again.

I am playing a character in a Jade Regent campaign that started off as a Horse Lord ranger. At third level, because we had discovered some interesting exotic weapons and armor, I decided to multi-class into Samurai. This dovetails nicely with the Horse Lord archetype and gave me a bonded mount at level 3 (thanks to Samurai's mount class feature). The mount shows up correctly at an effective mount level of 1. Now, at level 4, I took Ranger, so the mount should still have been level 1 (since Horse Lord's ranger levels won't start counting until Ranger level 4), and it was. However, I took Samurai levels at levels 5, 6, and 7, and my horse still shows up as an effective level of 1, despite the fact that he should be level 4 thanks to the three additional levels of Samurai.

I have discovered that if I remove the Horse Lord archetype, HeroLab properly calculates the horse's level as level 4. However, adding the Horse Lord archetype back to the character drops the horse's level back to 1 again. I assume this is because the Horse Lord ranger gets an animal companion at ranger level -3, and HeroLab is for some reason subtracting 3 from the Samurai level. Once I get to level 8 and add the fourth level of ranger, the mount suddenly gets back up to an Effective Level of 5, as it should be.

So, I just want to know if I'm doing something incorrectly, or if HeroLab is mistakenly modifying the mount/animal companion's level because it is calculating the "master's" effective druid level incorrectly. Any help you guys can offer (or, at the very least letting me know that I'm not doing something incorrectly and that this is, in fact, a bug that I should report) would be greatly appreciated.
