Bonus Perk

One thing I'm not very good at is the eval scripts. How would I go about granting a bonus Perk to a race? I tried to mimic the Human bonus racial feat from Pathfinder but I couldn't get it to work.
 
Try something like this:

Code: 
hero.child[resPerks].field[resMax].value += 1

in your ability or bootstrap.
