when I purchased the monster volumes I, II. III do I still have to build an NPC monster or do I simply click on the appropriate monster and get all the relevant information and perhaps add some strategy for the encounter? are the images included in some downloadable form?
 
You can either create a new character, and choose a monster race the same way you'd add a race to a PC, or you can use the "Import Stock Portfolio" option from the Character menu to pull in a copy of that monster with all the gear and memorized spells that are listed in the Bestiary already added.

We do not include any Bestiary images in Hero Lab.
