Auto Bonus Progression problem

I cannot seem to apply the armor attunement feature to a monk's (or wizard's) normal clothing (as is allowed explicitly in PF Unchained). As per other threads, I can add weapon attunement to unarmed strike, but I get the "nothing to select" when attempting to add armor attunement to a monk's outfit.

I tried to finesse this by putting a monk outfit into a custom armor slot, but that didn't work.

Anyone know of a fix for this? I submitted a bug notice to LW.

Okay it is a bit weird but it works.

Go to the armor tab
click "new magic, custom or masterwork armor of size:"
click "- custom / magic armor -"
click "add"
equip it

go to the bonus progression tab. There you can now select "- custom/magic armor -". This also still allows you to gain the bonus for being "unarmored"

PS. ignore the max dex of +0 it isn't being enforced (my mistake here)

Thanks for your reply.

I tried this and it worked up to that point about the max dex not being enforced. Mine seems to be doing just that: for example, I raised the DEX stat up artificially and my AC stayed constant and the little calculation window by the AC shield has: Max Dex: +0, from +1 (=0).

What class are you trying it on? I was doing it on a monk with wisdom. (ok just tried it on a wizard with dex and than it does get enforced indeed)

I was working with an Unchained Monk with a DEX = 13. The WIS bonus to AC was maintained, but, yes, the MAX DEX BONUS seems to be enforced with this trick. I can't seem to find a way to work around or override that.

But yes, any class that would not wear armor appears stuck here vis-a-vis armor attunement.

Well in that case you have 2 options:
1 using the stuff I did above and at an adjustment named "Armor bonus class" and make it give the missing dex bonus as untyped

2 go without the possibility I did above and using that same adjustment to give an armor bonus to yourself for the amount the automating bonus progression gives you.

^ I think the problem here is that when one selects the Auto Bonus Progression tab, one doesn't get any enhancement bonus options to select within the software.

I think I've found this "fix" to your "fix" - crazy as that sounds:

So using your procedure for finessing the application of the armor attunement, one can then go to:

Adjust Tab
Select Armor Class Bonus
Select Untyped Bonus and add one's proper DEX bonus

This allows both the AC and CMD to shift back to the values they ought to have for the unarmored character using armor attunement on their regular clothing.

PS Now that I've worked this out, I suspect that's what you were suggesting as your first option!! ::chuckle::

PSS Again, thanks for the assist.

If the missing bonus is from Dex, I would add the bonus type as 'Dodge' and not untyped.

That way, it will correctly apply to Total AC and Touch AC, but not to Flat-Footed AC.
Also dodge bonuses stack, so you don't need to worry that your adjusted (+1) or whatever DEX should be adding but is not, won't stack with the other dodge type bonuses that are being correctly generated.

I thought of this last night but wasn't certain anyone else would care or read the thread were I to post an addendum. Thanks for taking the trouble to post.

I used the workaround above to create the item. I then used the editor to create an Adjustment that lets me specify the Max Dex on an item. I use that adjustment to give the Max Dex on the item added by the workaround to something like 99.
