Animal Companion effective HD

I was working up character concept as follows:
Barbarian (Beast Totem and Mad Dog) 2
Rogue (Survivalist) 3
Cleric 1

I chose feat Boon Companion
The animal companion shows up as a 6 HD creature until I add the Animal domain to the cleric. Then HL drops it to a 4 HD creature. If I remove the domain, it jumps back to 6 HD.

So my question is: is this a bug in HL and the companion should stay as 6 HD or should, rules wise, adding the domain drop the HD?

We'd really appreciate it if people would simply use our bug tracking system, and not delay the reporting of bugs by posting them in the form of a question, waiting, and finally posting it to our bug tracker once no one answers for a few days.

There are not many readers of this forum who are rules lawyers who will scrutinize the questions that are asked, and in my experience, these "is this a bug" threads rarely get a response.

Here's the thread with a link to the bug tracking system: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=24976

In other words, even if you aren't sure, just go ahead and submit it. I have submitted some bugs that weren't actually bugs, and have not been reprimanded or dismembered in my sleep.

I have submitted it through the link. Thanks for the information. I have not had to submit bugs before and was trying to save a step if it was just my error. In the future, if I have another question like this, I will just submit.

Thanks. Just so you know, this isn't directed at you. A lot of people do exactly what you did. It's not really an issue, but LW prefers if you simply submit the issue since real bugs can get lost if no one ends up answering individual posts like this. It seems to me that people tend to not be sure and don't want to submit a bug that isn't a bug. Also, I think that people prefer to know if its a bug or not right away, which is not often communicated when you use the bug tracking system (at least in my experience). That may be something LW could look at in the future.
