Adjusting Fame in Pirates of the Spanish Main

Red Eye Girl

New member
I am completely new to Hero Lab and I am having some difficulties trying to figure out how to increase/decrease Fame in the Pirates of the Spanish Main setting. I know that initially this is a derived trait, but as the game progresses it is supposed to be increased or decreased based on the players actions. How can I make this happen?

In some cases, like for Edges or Hindrances that make those effects, it will do it for you automatically. But for changes you have simply from game play the primary place to do it would probably be on your Personal tab where at the bottom you should see the ability to "Add Permanent Adjustments" then just select "Derived Trait" from the list, click "Add & Close" and you should see a new entry on the bottom. Just select the red "-No Selection-" text and pick "Fame" from the drop-down list then change the modifier to however you need it to be.

You can also do that on the "In-Play" tab where you can "Add Temporary Adjustments". The advantages of using it there are if there is a temporary situation where you might have a Fame modifier that doesn't otherwise apply normally, if you just wanted a way to annotate where each modifier you have came from (although the list would get pretty big if you did it for that, I would think. Probably better to do it as a Permanent adjustment and maybe annotate those changes on the Journal tab instead for that purpose.)
