Adding spells to Soldier

So this is probably a weird question but I've got a Soldier, and in our campaign he actually knows some spells. I just recently (as in today) started using HLO and I'm having difficulty finding out how to add spells to a Soldier class. The Spellcaster permanent ability didn't add anything where I can add spells, so I'm kinda lost. Any help would be great, thanks.
 
Unfortunately, the Spellcasting ability that can be added is the one used for NPC spellcasting, and is set up to only function if the hero is of the NPC type (to avoid potential conflicts). Currently there isn't a way to add spellcasting ability to a PC in this manner, though I've added a future project to look into this and see if it can be adjusted for PC functionality.
