Adding monster templates

For instance, if I want to add Ghoul - not Ghoulish, to a character. How do I go about that. Or do I have to add the character's alterations piecemeal to achieve the changes.

I remember being able to create a Ghoul character using my brother's version (For the Cheesegrinder) but I don't remember how I went about it.

Just got the Completist package, but not the 2017 update as it wasn't on sale so I don't have Bestiary 6 for instance. But that shouldn't matter, should it?

Any suggestions?

it shouldnt matter. If you are actually wanting to add templates to a character, you add them via the same process you add class levels.

If your looking to use a ghoul base race you should be able to do that too.

On my list of Templates it goes like this: Gallowdead, Ghost, Ghoulish Creature, Giant Creature. There is no selection for Ghoul. I can select it as race, but... upon careful reading of the description of the Ghoul I see that the original race of the Ghoul is of no consequence to the final result.

You may want to build your own Ghoul template that adds the aspects of Ghoul that you want without losing the racial aspects of the characters 'other' race.

The Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin has various Dread Undead templates (Dread Ghoul included), that are basically slapping the undead chassis on an existing character.

Dread (Green Ronin) is usually better than the existing non-Dread version from other sources.

My Dread undead types are generally +2 superior stat mods, in several or all stats.
