Adding Intelligence Bonus

What adjustment in HL do I use if I want to increase a character's Intelligence, to gain all the benefits of that increase, including the additional skill points and languages?

In my current campaign, we are using a modified version of the Auto Bonus Progression from Unchained Pathfinder. All bonuses are implemented but magic weapons and armor are used normally (those are not automatically increase by level advancement).

If a character selects Intelligence as they Mental Ability bonus, they should receive the additional skill points and languages. It works if I use the normal ABP but cannot use that option because it removes the function to create magical weapons and armor.

I have tried all the various Adjustments available in HL under the Adjustments tab and Permanent Adjustments under the Personal tab. None of them seem to work (they add to the INT score but don't add the other bonuses).

Appreciate any insight you may have. Thanks.

If you use an untyped bonus adjustment for INT it should update all affected skills/abilities. Keep in mind that most are based off even number values, so you might need to add +2 as the adjustment to see some changes. If that doesnt work I would suggest posting the por file.

I was hoping to mark the bonus adjustment as enhancement, so that it wouldn't stack with anything it shouldn't be stacking with.

I understand there shouldn't be other ability score enhancements when using ABP, but I'm not using the standard PU/HL option and there are many weird magic items out there that'll do some quarky things.

You should be able to type it to enhancement, if there are other enhancement bonuses already on the character it may not show up.

My group is actually doing the same thing with ABP as the OP. We are still level 4 so we have not needed to adjust stats, we were planning on just adding an enhancement bonus adjustment.

I just tried adding an enhancement bonus to my witch and it does bump up intelligence, but it doesn't add more skills or languages.

The permanent adjustment does appear to work, but will stack with fox's cunning, which would be an undesired affect.

Bump :) Anyone have any suggestions on this? I guess one workaround would be to also add adjustments for skill points and languages, but this cumbersome and better if this was handled by a single adjustment.

It is probably Chemosh's enhancements, but I have access to an adjustment called "Ability Score (Temp), Type" which allows you to specify both the ability score and the type of bonus that it is.

I think if I understand what is being asked for they want a Enhancement bonus that is not "temporary" but considered permanent. With it being permanent it would then increase the skills/languages a character knows.

As this is a special case you would currently need to use two more adjustments to give skills and languages. Enhancement bonuses do not normally provide those bonuses because they are considered Temporary.

You could easily make such a adjustment by combining several adjustments into one.

I can see about adding a "Ability Score (Perm), Type" of adjustment in the next release of the community Pack. I just don't know that will be as I am very busy right now. I wanted to release it just after GenCon and that failed to happen.

Otherwise you can look at the scripts for the 3 adjustments and combine the logic together for when increasing Int.

Shadow, how does the headband of vast int handle this? The adjustment should use the same thing. If I recall it provides a typed enhancement bonus too

Exactly as charlieluce said. The headband has logic to provide temp skill points to a Specific selected skill.

This is how temp Int increases in PF1 got around the fact that they don't provide skill points. It also stops the issue of just taking the headband off and putting it back on to get new skill ranks in a different skill the next day. :)

This is accurate and exactly what I'm attempting to do. It sounds like that HL doesn't have that option just yet. So, I'll the Ability Adjustment Type option under Adjustments (to mark the bonuses as enhancement), and add additional adjustments for skill points and languages separately.

Appreciate everyone's insight on this. :)
