I got it fixed, but just to cover bases:
What were you exactly doing and what exactly occurred?
- Filling out the new account form, pressed the continue button, and immediate Account Error message
Did an error message get displayed? If so, what is the complete error message?
- Sorry, it was last night, but it told me to check my internet connection (which was OK)
Did the account name you tried get rejected? If so, you could be attempting to create an account that doesn't comply with the assorted rules for doing so, in which case you can try a different account name.
- I made sure to check the username rules. There was no funny business there.
Did your email address get rejected? If so, please check the syntax and try again.
- Again, I checked the rules.
Did the account get accepted and you haven't received the confirmation email? If so, have you checked the spam folder? Please note that email services like GMail have their own spam folder tied to your account, so such emails won't ever get forwarded to your local computer. You'll need to check that directly via your GMail account.
- I received nothing the first several times I made the attempt. Not in inbox, not in spam

Just on the off chance, I decided to uninstall the app and reinstall. I had originally installed to an F:\ drive, and directory. I know some apps are pretty specific about being on C:\ so I reinstalled to C:\. Whether it was that, or something related to the uninstall/reinstall, it worked perfectly fine the first time I tried the signup, got the email, and ran the app without issue.
