AB:SuperPowers (not SPC) and linked skills -- new bug?

I seem to be missing a step somewhere to use the AB:SuperPowers edge

  1. Create a new character
  2. Select the edge AB:SuperPowers (regular deluxe edition - not SPC version)
  3. Go to the Arcane tab, select an available power (e.g. bolt)
  4. Go the skills tab, Add a New Skill, select Bolt (Power), ok so far
  5. Bolt(Power) skill added but without a die type and unable to improve type
  6. Validation error: Bolt (Power) This selection is not permitted
So how do you use the edge?

You're using it right. You've discovered a bug. We made a couple of major changes to support magic items, and this is part of the result. I'll take a look, and get a fix out. Thank you for finding this, by the way...

don't think it's fixed

so the skills show up with die types that can be increased now, but at a cost of two points per die type -- shouldn't that be one point per step?

under AB Super Powers (SWDE104)
each power is its own skill and has no linked attribute (and thus counts as “lower” than its linked Attribute for purposes of Advancement).

and under character creation, skills (SWDE016)
You have 15 skill points to distribute among your skills. Each die type costs 1 point (starting at d4) as long as the skill is equal to or less than the attribute it’s linked to

can this be fixed by a setting adjustment or does it need a patch?
