As some of you may have noticed, Army Builder 2 is now out. This means a
whole bunch of new datafiles have been released to use it's exciting new
features! Hoorah! These include new 40K and Mordheim files, upon which I
shall expound later in this email.
I'm leaving Sunny Scotland for the heathen lands of the USA to visit Gen
Con with the Army Builder Crew tomorrow morning, so any email you send
me won't get answered for a week. It's nothing personal.... if you're
going to Gen Con and happen to see someone with a Scots accent hanging
around the Army Builder booth, it's probably me. Why not say hello?
Anyway. As always, all the files are in the ab-files Files section; I
took them off skrill.org because it was slowing it down too much. If
you're allergic to eGroups or you don't use it for Religious Reasons,
I'm sure someone else has them up on their web site - Grail Knight,
possibly.
Mordheim v16 changes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Completely rewrote the files and changed their structure in every
respect. This means that whatever extra files you made to work with the
old ones won't any more. On the plus side, it's now trivial to make new
ones, assuming you have a basic understanding of inheritance. I'll be
writing a tutorial on it when I get back.
40K changes
~~~~~~~~~~~
I released the v2-Alpha files as soon as AB2 came out, and got a load of
bug reports back from it. These seem to have stopped now, so I've
compiled the result into the v2-Alpha-II files. Here we go:
ALPHA PATTERN CHANGES
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
All armies:
Vehicles now have nice statlines.
Campaign mode has been removed, because it didn't work any more. It'll
be back soon.
The Assault Cannon's description now mentions the "don't roll 3 1's"
rule.
Eldar:
Made the Bright Lance's description appear properly.
Made the Seer Council a compulsory unit for Ulthwe.
Let the Seer Council take a Wave Serpent as transport.
Taking a Seer Council Jetbiker now gives a validation error.
There are now no minimum Black Guardian requirements enforced.
Black Guardian Grav Platforms now have BS4.
Non-Ulthwe armies can no longer take Black Guardian squads.
Space Wolves:
Ulrik the Slayer's Fenrisian Wolves now cost the right amount of points.
Error messages now make sense.
HQ units now work logically.
Orks:
Corrected an imbecile problem involving the bodyguard and Trukks.
Nobz getting extra points for Wargear if both they and the Warboss has
Mega Armour is now handled automagically.
Imperial Guard:
Stopped Commissars taking the "Deathworld Veteran" thing.
Catachans:
Fixed the Fire Support Squad & Mortar Squad.
Chaos:
Marked Chaos Terminators get Chaos Icons for their champion if they're a
retinue.
Retinues can now have their size reduced to 0, so you can have one made
up completely of Aspiring Champions.
Necrons:
Necron info is now only printed once, no matter how many Lords you have.
Legion of the Damned:
To see any Legion of the Damned squads, you have to select the 'Show
Legion of the Damned' option from the Settings menu.
ALPHA-II PATTERN CHANGES
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
All armies:
Fixed the way one-handed and two-handed weapons worked.
Adeptus Arbites:
Changed the Arbites a bit. I think they work properly now, but I'm not
sure... if anyone has the Citadel Journal with the Arbites in it, could
you check that Proctors are costing the correct amount? Ta.
Orks:
Warbosses and Big Meks can now take Battlewagons instead of just Trukks.
Trukks can now change their Heavy Weapons.
Warbikes now cost the correct amount.
Catachans:
Booby Traps now cost the correct amount of points.
Added random Preacher links.
Added the Ork Hunter Firesweep Teams from the GW web site. To see them,
select 'Show Armageddon Troops' from the 'Settings' menu.
PDF:
Added random Preacher links.
Imperial Guard:
Inquisitors can now take Terminator Armour.
Rough Terrain Modification now costs 5 points for everything except
Catachan Sentinels.
Added the Krourk Ogryns from the GW web site. To see them, select 'Show
Armageddon Troops' from the 'Settings' menu.
Chaos:
Taking a Dreadnought Heavy Flamer now deselects the Combi-Bolter.
Dark Angels:
Command Squads can now be reduced to 0 models if you have enough
Apothecaries / Techmarines / etc.
Salamanders:
Devastators now have an Initiative of 3.
More than 2 characters can now take Signums.
Space Wolves:
The Wolf Lord now has 4 Attacks.
The Wolf Priest now gets his free Iron Wolf Amulet.
Blood Claw Bike Packs should now not give error messages if you take
(for example) a Flamer and 2 Power Fists.
Dark Eldar:
Raiders can now deselect their Dark Lance.
