A question about add-on packages

Hey guys,

This may seem like a simple question but i'm a little new to hero lab..

HL gives you 2 licenses for two of your computers right. So I noticed when I activated the second for my macbook that you get a different license key for the second activation.

My question is. When you purchase packages with one of these keys, are the packages bound to that one specific key and not the other? As in, if my PC is my first license and my macbook is my second. Can I buy and package and use it for both computers?

When I installed the secondary license on my old work computer (yes, my "company" allowed, and even encouraged it, as the PC was there as break-time entertainment and not as a workstation), all the packages I bought for my primary license carried over. As best as I can tell, the packages you buy are attached to that purchase's account, not the primary license number. So, as I understand it, if you use the secondary license (or even buy the tertiary or quaternary licenses), then all the packages you've purchased under that account should be unlocked and included.

Thanks guys that totally clears it up :)

I was also curious about Realm Works too. I'd assume you'd need these packages to GM pathfinder with the app. Will I have to buy the packages all over again after its release?

The people who are most familiar with the details of Realm Works won't read posts here in the Hero Lab forum as often as they'll read posts in the Realm Works forum. I recommend you ask your question there, instead.

As I'm familiar with Realm Works and already here in this thread, I'll just answer you.

You don't need to buy anything to use Realm Works to GM for any system what-so-ever. Hero Lab is for the rules, Realm Works is for campaign story stuff.

That said, the packages that they'll probably come out with for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting would probably be useful if you're running in Golarion, but again, not necessary. Unlike Hero Lab, there's no scripting language underneath it all that you have to learn to put certain things in, it's all just what you see in front of you. So putting in the things you need instead of buying the entire world of Golarion is extremely easy.
