A free starting Skill at d6

Okay, so I know how to code to give a character a specific free starting skill, and even assign the level of start dice. But Gaslight, the Human Race is assigned a Free Edge and a Free Skill at d6.

That would be ANY skill. I imagine a pop-up with the Skill List, user selects, and voila, now has free skill at d6.

Is that even possible?

Cheers.

Not sure if it's in one of the Companions or not, but there is on the "Racial Property" tab if you do a "New (Copy)" on the list you should see a "Free Skill at d6" entry. The problem is that one shows how to do it but it's meant for you to select the skill right there. The mechanic for handling drop-down lists seems to be build into the editor for Edges (the Menu #1 Source and Tag Expression stuff) but I don't know if that will work in a Racial Property or Attribute entry.

However you could try experimenting with an Edge that does that for skills, then either bootstrap the Edge OR edit the file by hand and see if you can add those Menu lines and any Fields/Tags it adds to your Racial Property and see if that would work.

I'm not sure of how to do this, mind you, just tossing out ideas for possibilities you might be able to try or that might get you on the right track (otherwise I'd just tell you how to do it. ;))
