5E D&D Staff of Power = Simple Weapon Proficiency Required?

5th I've equipped my Wizard with a Staff of Power.

"This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff"

I have it attuned (box clicked) and equipped (box clicked) and yet my Melee Attack with it is +6.

It should be +10. (Gauntlets of Ogre Power [attuned & equipped] = 19 / +4 to STR and +4 Proficiency Bonus and +2 from Staff)

Looking at the Staff in the Weapons section it says "You are not proficient with this weapon." --- huh? --- Wizards are proficient with quarterstaffs.

Wassup?
 
I think it's because the item type is a magic item and not actually a staff for the Staff of Power.

If you go to your adjustments tab, Add New Adjustment, pick Weapon Proficiency and Add/Close. You can then pick staff of power from the dropdown of the new adjustment and it should correct the issue.
 
Staff of Charming also has same problem

I noticed this same problem with the Staff of Charming. I know I fixed it on my computer by using the Hero Lab Editor before and replacing the wStCharm, but I forgot to save my .user file before reinstalling my OS, and lost the change(s). This problem may affect more than just these two staves. It may be affecting all of the magic staves.
 
Update: Got the e-mail today (June 6) that the fix was in for Staff of Power in the next update. Not sure if what they fixed for the bug I put in will be for all staff versions, so if it does not fix Staff of Charming I can put in another ticket.
