in a 3000pt roster i put a grey seer and grey seer thanqual i selected thanqual as my general but the program would not validate unless i selected the regular seer as general if this is not an error pls let me know becase i will have to stop playing it like i do

Thanquol should be the general in that make-up. You are not playing it wrong.

as i thought just made things touchy when the tourny directer asked about the validation issue on the list but it all worked out in the end

I am trying to setup a 1000 point army. I want to use a grey seer, but i am not sure why the validation rules pop up.

Armies of 1000 point value can never include a Lord choice. You have to settle for a Hero General. That's why most Fantasy games are usually 2000+ so as to give the player the option of including one lord choice.
