I haven't delved into any of the authoring stuff, as I'm not quite good at mucking about in programming stuff.
But I'm having the problem that as I enter the characters for a game I'm going to be running soon, they are all getting an extra feat. Normally this wouldn't be such an issue, but currently it's just bugging me, as the feat tab will remain in the red for some time now. Otherwise thanks in advance for any advice given. -Woof. |

Wolf: Go to the Personal Tab, down at the bottom of the screen you will a Permanent Adjustments box. Click it, select Bonus feats, once it pops up just increase the incrementer to 1 and you should be ok.
I do this all the time. My players get a bonus feat as a standard practice at level 1 with me. Just use the permanent adjustment feature on the Personal tab and you can fix this without a problem. |

I think I miss worded what I was meaning to say....
Right now they are getting a free extra feat... I don't want them to. Human Ninja has access to 3 feats at the start, he should only have 2 Human = 1 First level = 1 that's it right? 1/2 elf fighter has 3, and She should have 2... First level = 1 Fighter = 1 Right? I'm counting all these feats correctly aren't I? I'm confusing myself a good bit by now. -Woof. Or am I miscounting my feats. |

Humans get an extra feat at first level for being human, as part of the race. That is in the Pathfinder Core rule book.
Go to Character, Configure Hero. In the right hand box, scroll down to optional rules and see if the Free Upbringing box is checked off. If it is, any character can take the upbringing feat for free, which would bring the feat count up. What level are you starting the characters at? I am not having this problem on my hero lab Pathfinder set up. You can use the incrementer on the Personal tab to lower the number of feats and get rid of the validation error too. Characters in pathfinder do get more feats than characters from 3.5 on average. |

If your starting at say, 3rd level, you would gain a feat there so that will show up. I recommend using the incrementer on the personal tab for now if you want the characters to have less feats.

Na, we are starting at first level, and I know humans get an extra feat. But that still sticks humans at two beginning feats and a half elf fighter at two feats... and currently they are both showing 3 feats available. I'll check the incrementer and try that route.
Thanks for the help. -Woof |

Q: I am gaining an extra feat when I should not be? A: Do you have the "Advanced Player's Guide Hero Points" rules turned on? If so, did you check "Don't Use Hero Points" below your starting cash? If you did both of these it disables "Hero Points" and gives you a bonus feat as per the APG anti-hero rules. Hope that helps.
