I believe all sources are recorded as tags on the hero, so you could easily give a piece of gear like this an eval script to look for that and set weight to 0.

Great minds think alike! My group does not use Coin Weight either so I totally want to make sure this is taken into account. Like Aaron said easiest would be to set the weight to zero once its added to the hero "if" that option is check marked.
