When looking at a listing of gear or magic, I would like it if we could filter out items that cost more money than I currently have. There is already a filter for items that can't be used by you.

Simply add a third option to the drop down menu next to the search box.
Call it: "Only affordable"

Then, populate the display with items that have a cost less than or equal to the amount of "gold" the player has. "Gold" being the composite value of their PP, GP, SP, and CP adjusted to be only GP.

+1 This would definitely be a "nice to have" feature.

If you could filter within a gold value range...

Minimum Value.
Maximum Value.

+1.

PCGen displays columns of data and you can click on a column to sort by that field, so sorting by price makes it pretty easy to see what you can afford. HL doesn't currently have the space to display multiple columns in its current layout.

If three columns could be displayed and used as sort keys in HL (item name, price, and a user-defined field) then everything needed would be there.

(I would like to sort by Spell Resistance when looking at spells so that spells with no SR were clumped together. I'd like to sort by Caster Level when looking at wondrous items when I'm considering what item I might want to craft next. I'd like to sort by cost-to-manufacture when looking at spell scrolls so I can tell which spells might be good candidates. And so on.)

You can kind of fake some of that with the search box (I've used "Spell Resistance no" for example) but I would get a ton of use out of "affordable" as an option for purchasing. Currently I have a magic item spreadsheet downloaded from the community site that I can sort, but it's kind of clumsy and I can't exclude sources easily.

Currently Playing:
Pathfinder First Edition, Star Trek Adventures
Former HL Games: D&D 4e & 5e, Mutants & Masterminds 2E & 3E, Savage Worlds

There were reasons that wasn't possible from what I understood in how currently gold was being handled. I thought I have seen some posts around where they mentioned they are altering how gold was handled. (Source)

That together with UI overhaul they are working on and the fact this has been requested a few times already. They might already be working on this
