This has never come up with my installation of HL, but I just went to give my son a tutorial on creating multi-character portfolios to store adventuring parties and encounters, and we discovered that his dashboard seems to have vanished.
"Oh, no problem," I said to my son, demonstrating on my own laptop, "go to View -> Show Dashboard". Only problem is that his installation of HL has its "Show Dashboard" option greyed out. I've gone through the help files, searched the forums and searched the Internet, but I can't figure out how to turn it on! Any ideas? |

The Dashboard automatically hides itself whenever there is only a single character/hireling/familiar/companion within a portfolio. It's only use is to switch between multiple characters, so there's no point having it visible when you only have one character.
The moment that you add a second character, or a familiar, or an animal companion, or whatever else, the Dashboard will become enabled and automatically appear. That is, unless you've explicitly turned it off. Hope this helps! |

Brilliant, Rob - thanks *smacks self on head*
I'd opened a single character, but the character has a familiar, so the dashboard was showing. Thanks a bunch! |
