Would there be a way to create an adjustment that would select an ability and force the full description for that ability to print on the character sheet instead of just a summary? For those really confusing abilities, but when you don't need every ability printed off?

First I assume you mean the statblock not the character sheet right? Because you can always have the character sheet print full text by selecting the "Abilities & Gear Descriptions Appendix" dossier.

From the behavior I have seen HL looks at the abSumm for a value and uses that if found. Else it tries to use the "summary" filled in on the Thing itself if not empty. If both of those fields are empty it then uses descript to fill in the abSumm field up to the max of like 250 characters.

The best you could do is fill abSumm with the field[descript].text information which will at least get you the first 250 characters.

I meant character sheet, without having to print the full dossier of gear and abilities. A friend was asking he just wants the one ability for his character because he needs full text, everything else the abSumm suffices.

Thought about seeing if it's possible with a custom character sheet, but I don't know XSLT that well, and I just plain suck at making things look pretty. Heh.

Just use AncientOne's custom sheet then. You can download it from inside of HL actually. I just tested it and still works and has an option once opened to show full Text. Just go to "Override Hero Lab Output Options" and then select "Show Feat/Ability Descriptions".

A few strange characters appear now sense HL went to UTF-8 text formatting. I think I saw a fix in AncientOne's thread about it.

Update: The real fix is listed in THIS post.

I'll let him know. I hadn't thought about Ancient One's sheet, since it seemed they stopped developing it.

I believe it was just one person, and according to the annals of a certain Dr. Stange, he has since become One with everything.
