I use Hero Lab fairly extensively for my weekly group, and some requests from the group have come up that I think would make Hero Lab more functional.
I use one Profile for the entire group, makes it easier for combat, and to use hero lab for tacticals.

1) Party Loot List. Having a separate list for party loot (weight can be assigned in game) That would allow for items found, but not yet assigned to a character.

2) Being able to move (transfer) equipment between different members in the same profile. You just spent 10 minutes custom creating a magic sword for a party member to use. Then a better sword is found, and the person who currently uses the item gives it to another party member. There is no easy way to do this without deleting it, and recreating the item (taking up time) on the other character. There should be a transfer option in inventory and in party loot if that idea is used.

3) We have been constantly bugged on the Pathfinder character sheet printouts with missing equipment, ability and spells that people have started once again keeping hand-written character sheets.
However when they go to transfer new information from Hero Lab to their character sheets, it is harder as they go up in levels to see what changes have been made. Information overload.
We came up with an idea for a printout oution when you level that will just print out the changes between the last level and this one with also showing what new feats, skill changes, etc... or if your saves, or your BAT, or your CMB/CMD, skills or whatever went up. Just a change log. It seems that Hero lab does already keep track of changes by level as if you delete a level, it deletes the benefits you took for that level.
That way you know just what to change on your handwritten sheet.

Please place Feature Requests in the Feature Request thread

As well, Party Loot can be maintained by creating a character on your campaign's portfolio named "Party Loot" and transferring gear back/forth
Transferring gear is done via the same toggle used to place items in containers; there's an additional option "Give to..." that can be used for moving gear/stacks between characters

As nullPointer says: click on the little bag icon on the item, select Give to... and it will offer you a list of characters in the portfolio.

Now, what I want is a "Transfer all weapons/armour/magic/gear to..." option, which would make looting really easy.

Issue with this is, how is weight tracked on your main character. sure you know that you know you have 5 magic longswords to sell for party cash, but how are you carrying it?

The feature request is actually a good one.

I solved it buy using "custom valuable" in the gear tab, in the text write in "Longsword +1 to sell for party loot" and make sure the weight is correct for a longsword. Tracked!

Surely at that point you might as well just transfer the item over Exmortis?

Our group uses a combination. For items kept in the bag of holding / on the wagon / etc, we have seperate "npcs" with appropriate strength for the weight limit, so that we don't clutter up the main sheet. On the other hand, anything being physically carried by the character stays on their sheet as is.

If nothing else, if you're carrying that much that you can't find the item you're after in HL, then you probably will take as long to find it in game!

Hi Ex,
You could create a Custom Container that costs 0gp and weighs 0lb, call it "carried party loot", and move the gear from the "Party Loot" character, into the "carried party loot" character on the appropriate PC

Agreed that for Party Loot, a separate 'character' is the best place to put the items. This really helps with post-combat distribution, especially if the GM pregenerates the encounter/loot and places it either on a creature in the encounter, or as a separate 'loot pile' character. then it's an easy action to transfer the stuff to the party loot character.

For a given character's horde (say he's got a bunch of assets that he is not necessarily carrying on his person, but wants to track), you can create a 'Custom Location'. This is a container that is not carried on the hero, but remains associated with that hero. Items placed in that container ARE considered for net worth, but are not considered for weight carried. This is how one would handle a wagon, a ship, etc.

Really, the greatest shortcoming is that there isn't a good asset tracking system in Hero Lab - no way to easily show, say, a tree of assets, with their locations, values, weights. Also, as mentioned already, a 'transfer everything to...' option would be nice.

You can transfer a container to another character in one step, and all items in that container will move with it. Only exception is the Money item, as it cannot leave the character, and no good way to move money between characters.

Thanks guys, I took your suggestion on loot, and it is working for now, and I have created a separate "character" for GM prep and I found the move features within hero lab.
