I'd like to view the contents and structure of an rw.output file. I assume it is some kind of xml but I can only guess from taking a look at the content in cmd. My standard editor Sublime Text waves the white flag when I try to open my realm output file which sits at slightly over 1Gb.

The reason for this is, that I'm building an interactive map (pre-alpha sneak peek) for my game world and would like to know if and how to find certain topics in all that data. Then maybe I could pull content from the output file into geojson files. That way I could at least semi-automatically populate the popups etc.

Find my stuff on

You can view the XML in notepad++ or textpad.

EmEditor doesn't load the entire file in one go, which could otherwise make notepad++ run quite slowly.

I did some searching for a more useful XML editor.

There are any number of free XML editors that will let you navigate the XML more easily than just scrolling through the text.

Google will let you find one that you like.

I recommend UltraEdit. It is not free but it's my go-to text editor and is especially nice for navigating large XML files.

Love UltraEdit. I was lucky enough to buy it back in the late 90s when it was about $30 for the program, and about $30 for lifetime updates.

Same here. They still honor my lifetime-upgrades license for Ultra Edit and Ultra Compare.
