I'm trying to create an entry for the Staff of Defense from Lost Mine of Phandelver. How can I get the item to:
A) show up as a wieldable weapon?
B) confer a +1 to the wielder's armor class?

Do you know how to use the Hero Lab Editor? If not, can you link a description of the item here?

STAFF OF DEFENSE
This slender, hollow staff is made of glass yet is as strong as oak. It weighs 3 pounds. You must be attuned to the staff to gain its benefits and cast its spells.
While holding the staff, you have a +1 bonus to your Armor Class.
The staff has 10 charges, which are used to fuel the spells within it. With the staff in hand, you can use your action to cast one of the following spells from the staff if the spell is on your class's spell list: tnege armor (1 charge)or shield (2 charges). No components are required.
The staff regains Id6 + 4 expended charges each day at dawn. If you expend the staff's last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff shatters and is destroyed.

Hansmo:

I've created the Staff of Defense for you. I'll post it to the GIT site. I can send you the .user file as an attachment if you send me a private message with your email address or another way to send it to you.

I simply used a Staff of Power as a basis, modifying it in the HL Editor.

Appreciate it. Though to be clear it wasn't for me. I simply posted the item description before the original. But your effort is appreciated nonetheless

Thanks folks. Sorry it took me a few days to get back here.

I have used the editor a little. I was able to do the spells and charges, I just couldn't figure how to make it wieldable and confer an AC bonus. I really appreciate y'all helping me out.

If you go through to the community pack github, check out the wiki. I've started creating a database of useful code. AC is listed.
