So, I've been looking at possibilities for a level up and specifically Signature Spells for a Bard. Reading the feature, I thought it might be possible to take a Heightened Spell, say Grim Tendrils as a level 2 heightened, and take it as a level 2 signature spell, while taking a different one like Soothe, as a level 1 signature spell.

Hero Lab Online says it doesn't work that way, and yet in other places on the interwebs people are saying that is how it works, and I have found myself confuzzled.

Is there some place this point has been clarified to say one way or the other? Is the wording of the feature actually saying that if I have taken Grim Tendrils as a level 2 heightened, I can still pick it as my level 1 and cast it at any level?

I've referred your question to our data file authors, who are more game system-knowledgeable than I am. Hopefully you'll have an answer soon.

Greetings,

The signature spell heightening feature is indeed behaving improperly in this regard. We have this being tracked by our team as a bug and this situation is under review so we can take a closer look in order to have it corrected. As always, you should feel free to reach out to us in support whenever you see something that is inaccurate or isn't working how you expect it should.

Thanks a million!

Has this bug been repaired? I've recently just started a Bard on Herolab Online and it seems the signature spell tool is still not working properly?

I figured out my issue with Bard Signature Spells, I needed to individually assign the Signature Spells through the class features list and clicking on each separate instance of Signature Spell on the list.

Alrighty, there should be a fix for this on live now, so everything should be functioning properly. As always, let us know if there are any further issues with it.
