Questions on Tau and A.B.

I've been playing 40k for a couple months now, and just recently purchased Army Builder.

Everything works great for my Chaos Daemons army - flawless so far. But when I attempted to create a few Tau armies, I encounter an odd error, and missing figures in the HQ lists.

The missing figures are...
Aun'Va - Master of the Undying Spirit (PG. 42 in Tau codex)
O'Shovah - Commmander Farsight (PG. 44 in Tau codex)
O'Shaserra - Commander Shadowsun (PG. 46 in Tau codex)

Am I overlooking these figures in the program, or are they simple oversites from the programmers?

As far as an error, it might be the program, or it might be me. I'm still extremely new to Tau, so its entirely possible. LOL

My error would be...
Commander Shas'o: Advanced Stabilization System Error

For some reason, no matter how I go about building my HQ, if I include the Advan Stab, I get the red error message.

Anyone have a suggestion or idea as to why this is happening? Any information is greatly appreciated.

If the error is due to an error or oversight on my part, I apologize in advance.

Addition) When creating a Tau army and selecting an Ethereal as my HQ, an error appears stating "Tau Commander Requirement Not Met". Is the Ethereal not considered the Commander / HQ?

Do you have "show special characters" on?. Sometimes they are hidden.

As for the other errors I don't get them when I do mine. I've been playing Tau since they first came out. You might want to remove your 40k data folder and redownload them.

I can duplicate the advanced stabilization error using 1.01b, freshly downloaded from ab40k.org - it happens for a lone commander with AdvSS, and goes away when he has a bodyguard who also has AdvSS, so I think the validation isn't checking for unit size = 1 properly.

As to the ethereal error, tau Empire, pg. 32 - note that the title of the tau commander says "1+ Commander" - so you need one of those in all Tau armies, even if an ethereal is filling your second HQ slot.

Ah, thank you for the answers.

As I said, I'm still extremely new to the game, and have only played two games with Tau. I was assuming the errors were due in part to my beginner status, but was unsure.

Good to see that the Advan SS is not an operator error on my part.

Gil, I noticed your statement about playing Tau for an extended period of time. Would you be willing to answer any questions I might encounter regarding the Tau? My local gaming store has many knowledgable players, but nobody with extensive Tau army experience.

Change Rules>Roster Options>Special Characters

I can now select HQ's Aun'Va and Shadowsun, but I see no Commander Farsight.

That's because Farsight has his own rule set - keep looking around in the same menus.
