I'd like to create an army list for Flames of War that doesn't adhere to the lists published, to fit in with campaign scenarios.
I want to create an army that uses elements from the entire book, specifically an early war German army based on a reduced Light Panzer Company, but with more infantry, infantry guns, anti-tank guns and such like that are not normally allowed in the Light Panzer Company. Does that make sense? I hope so Is there any way to do this? Cheers Steve |

Unfortunately, no. That option would have to be coded into the data files by the author. You could always copy the FoW data folder with a new name (e.g. FoWSteve). You would then have to edit the .def file in the new folder to tell AB about the folder name and change the game system name to something different (add [Steve] to the end of the game system name). After that, you would be free to adjust the data files as you see fit for your custom games.

There's an alternate (easier) way to do this. You'll need to use ABCreator to create the army list you want. This will entail defining the new race entry for the army and then adding all the appropriate units that are available for that army. If you copy an existing data file for a similar army, then you can more quickly get stuff working than starting the army from scratch. However, you'll need to change all the unique ids in the copied data file to avoid conflicts.
One thing to be careful of is when a new update is released for the core FoW data files. You need to be sure that the import does not delete your custom data files. This is achieved via the checkbox on the Import form. As a safety precaution, I also suggest you keep a back of the file in a different location, just in case the file is inadvertently clobbered. |

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a go using AB Creator.
