I think I'm 80% there but need help with adding Vicious and Cleave. My DM gave me;
Halberd of Vicious Cleaving - You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you roll a 20 on your attack roll, the target takes an extra 7 damage of the weapon’s type. In addition, when an attack you make with this weapon reduces a creature to zero hit points, any excess damage from that attack carries over to another creature nearby. You can choose to target another creature within reach. If the original attack roll can hit it, apply any remaining damage to it.

I'm in Editor > Equipment > Weapon, Magic. Started with a +1 weapon and added Halbred aspects but I can't figure out where/how to add Vicious and Cleave.

Thanks!

Vicious is basically text-based. There's a generic version of it that exists, much like how there's a generic version of a +1 weapon. You can pull up a 'New (Copy)' of Vicious and see how it's made in the Editor. But you'll really just want to copy the descriptive text from it onto your already-made version of your weapon.

Cleave isn't built in at all. So what I would do is grab the text from that copy of Vicious, paste it in twice to the description of your new weapon, and modify the second pasted copy of that text to have all the info for Cleave.

Since Hero Lab doesn't actually play heroes/monsters against each other and isn't a dice roller, there's no need (or way, really) for it to programmatically understand things like Vicious and Cleave. That's why all of that is text-based.

Thanks! Follow up questions, I apologize if I've overlooked the needed FAQ for this (I looked) but after I create my custom user file in the editor how do I access the file from within Hero Lab? I looked under sources and I don't see my file.

Also, after I do get my shiny new weapon into my character portfolio can I export it, open it in Hero Lab for iPad and still have my custom work show up?

Full disclosure, I have no idea how things work with iPad.

When looking at the weapon in the editor, there's a field where you can assign your own source for it. If you don't assign one, it will be available to any character by default.

To put it on your character, you just have to go to the weapons tab, click to add a new weapon, and find the new one. Should be as easy as that. Make sure you've saved and reloaded Hero Lab, of course.
