fighter weapon category change feat thingy

Can anyone help me? i am trying to make a feat that will add a fighter weapon category to a weapon that a character has weapon focus in. i am having a hell of a time trying to figure it out.

what i am specifically trying to do is have a scimitar treated as a weapon in the monk fighter weapon group.

i am pretty new to all this so any help anyone could provide would be super useful

Usually the answer is to look for something similar.

The existing feat, Ascetic Style...
It requires your character to have Weapon Focus in the monk weapon.
It lets you add the weapon, from a list of Monk weapons for use with the feat.

Not sure that that will help you.
But it requires Weapon Focus and has a Drop Down selection of weapons to choose from, so it is similar to what you're trying.
