Note from Colen - please see my first post on page 2 for a temporary workaround to this issue, while we work on a fix.

Hi,

After I downloaded the new updated version of HL and imported it, I received and error message when I went to launch HL. See below.

ellissar

HeroLab.exe has encountered an error and needs to close.

Please email a DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WERE DOING, in as much detail as possible, along with this message, to support@wolflair.com. PLEASE NOTE: Unless you tell us what you were doing, we won't have enough information to fix this problem!

Right click and choose "Copy to Clipboard" to copy these details, or you can find them in this file: C:\DOCUME~1\Peter\LOCALS~1\Temp\lwderror1380.txt

I've got this running on two Windows 7 machines, and it runs fine, however, I see this same error on my box that's running Windows XP.

The bad read error is the same type of error I got when I was trying to create custom game systems, and put a bmp w/ palette.

Just trying to provide some input.

Thanks for reporting this - I'm looking into this now. Is anyone getting the crash under Windows 7? Or just Vista / XP?

Edit: Also, when exactly does the crash occur? Right after you hit the "Load" button? Or does another message like "Compiling Data Files for Game System" appear first? I've been unable to reproduce the problem on any of the machines I've tried it on here, so any extra details would be very helpful.

For those of you encountering the problem, please try this:

1) Make sure Hero Lab is closed
2) In any web browser except internet explorer, download this file: http://www.wolflair.com/download/hp/pathfinder.hl
3) Double-click the file once downloaded and follow the prompts to import it
4) Try to load the Pathfinder game system

Does it load properly, or do you get the same error as before, or a different error?

Thanks for your patience and help resolving this issue.

Nope, DL'ed that with Firefox, then double clicked, imported, shows the PF logo/update.. and gets to 'building' before crashing out, same message

Tintros (or anyone else), do you have any third-party addons installed for Pathfinder? I.e. any .user files in the pathfinder folder?
