I'm trying add a feat to a Graven Guardian, but despite adjusting the total feats like I would for a PC, they do not show up. Yes, I know I can ignore the warnings. I'm just wondering why it doesn't work in this case.
The text says "Add hit dice to gain feat slots", but that does not appear to work as I have added 14 HD and still only have one feat. Besides, I don't really want to raise it's BAB, Saves, or hit points. |

Aren't Graven Guardians mindless constructs? Mindless creatures never gain feats or skills from HD, according to the rules, they only get whatever their race bootstraps as a bonus feat.

Yes, they are... and that explains that part. I'm still confused why adding total feats from the personal tab has no effect. Not that it's a huge deal, I'll just ignore the warning.

I fiddled around with an Iron Golem, and indeed adding feats without getting an error message seems to be impossible, even with a permanent adjustment on the personal tab, as long as the construct has no intelligence. Restoring an intelligence score (with ShadowChemosh' new Adjustment "Ability (restore)", for example) allows you to add feats.

My guess is that "mindless creatures don't get feat slots or skill points" is being handled by multiplying the totals by zero.
