Your questions are fair. In my opinion, here's a couple of reasons:
1. It's generally been the community's view not to "duplicate" data sets that LW have produced. 2. Most of the people who have the skill to work on a Starfinder data set, haven't got the time to do so. (Or may not play Starfinder) 3. From what I understand as to how Starfinder PC's are made, doing an conversion from say Pathfinder would not be straightforward, and might even not be possible. Current RPG's: Pathfinder (GM), Pathfinder (Player), Gamma World (GM, Pathfinder homebrew). HeroLab: 3.5 & Pathfinder. HL User Files for PF: Greyhawk Setting, Gamma World (WIP). DM and player of D&D since 1980. |

It wouldn't be possible to convert Pathfinder since users aren't able to access all the logic and rules on which Pathfinder is built.

Thanks for the information. I was taking a look at it and thought it might be possible with some work around, fudgery, and adjustments. I can understand the time it would take putting people off. I was curious, because I was going to start a Starfinder campaign with my group.
I took me years to get the whole group to invest in Hero Lab. Now we never game without it. I looked into HLO and played around with the demo, but found it less flexible and didn't care for the UI. Perhaps it my disappointment speaking, and I will revisit it again at some other time. Until then, I guess we go old school and break out the paper and pens. |
