So far I have created the Abilities (Charactersitics), skills, races, careers and specialisations.
No real synergy anywhere except career and specialisations. On character creation, your free specialisation has to be part of the career chosen. Once past creation, you can select any specialisation for advancement. I am currently looking into skill selection for creating a character.
You get up to two ranks in career, racial or specialisation skills. So what I need to learn to do is create a menu for a subset of skills. Anyone have any idea on how to do this? I don't have enough information yet to help you yet. Does making those career, race and specialization choices give you a fixed list of skills at fixed ranks? Or does each give you a list of skills to choose from, and the user adds ranks to some or all of them?
Are the skills from the career independent of those from the race and the specialization? |

Mathias,
There is a fixed list of skills. Each career has a list of 8 skills which are made easier to increase with experience (Career Skills). A character begins by choosing 4 of those 8 skills to have 1 rank in. Once the character has chosen a Career, they must choose 1 Specialization (in Pathfinder terms it would be more like an Archetype) which has 4 skills of which 2 can have a rank put into them at this point. (typically, one of the Specialization skills is also already a Career skill, allowing a character so start with the Max of 2 ranks in a skill). A Race can either do the same as a Specialization and allow a set number of additional choices for career skills, or provide a rank to a specific skill. One race I know of allows the character to break the 2-rank limit and have a 3 in a specific skill (Piloting) I would think all of this could be controlled with Tags. Something like a RankMax.2 for every skill automatically, and a CareerSk.<skill id> tag for those skills that are Career Skills. |

I agree, tags should be fine to mark those various statuses on the skills.
I don't think I'd create a separate menu for those skills. I'd just use color(s) and/or symbol(s) to mark the career/specialization/race skills on the list that shows all the skills. |

I was planning on using colour to determine career skills, but having selection lists for character creation.
Human allows two ranks in skills not part of the career skills for the character. I'm trying to learn other aspects of the tool as I go so I can do more in the future Working on - SW RPG d6 or add this source Update Souce and SW RPG FFG and More FFG SW not working yet Author of Realms Works Guides Blog writer at thedarkelf007.home.blog/ |

Also character get XP for advancement at creation so I am still looking to incorporate that.
It's been built using my star wars d6 system as the base build. Here are two screenshots so far. I had issues creating the skills due to user error of placing the panel off the viewable area Working on - SW RPG d6 or add this source Update Souce and SW RPG FFG and More FFG SW not working yet Author of Realms Works Guides Blog writer at thedarkelf007.home.blog/ |

I know this is an old thread, but I'm still hoping for some kind of support for FFG's Star Wars RPG series.
Any updates on this? |
