It certainly occurs with

Bile Thralls
Greygore Boomhowler & Co.
Revenant Crew
Satyxis Raiders
It doesn't occur with
Bane Knights
Croes Cutthroats
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters
Steelhed Halberdiers
By coincidence I don't have any of the units it does work for.
