We have contacted NordVPN support and they have declined to provide us with any further information about this alleged breach, citing contractual obligations to the third party service provider they rely on for their Dark Web Monitor feature. Our internal analysis has concluded and found no evidence of a data breach since the incident over 15 years ago (see above), so it is most likely either a false positive or this ancient event being reported by NordVPN. However, out of an abundance of caution, our recommendation to change your password remains the same.
