If you've got a two-handed weapon and a buckler, you only lose the buckler's AC bonus on a round when you attack. So for the rounds where you double-move, or do something else than attacking, you get to keep the buckler's AC. So, after you do attack, unequip the buckler (but leave it on for the actual attack, so that the proper penalty is applied), and then put it back on if you're not attacking that round, or if it's the beginning of the combat, before your first turn.
