God Machine Rules Update User Module

Because reasons, I've done this myself.

I'm putting it up for anyone else to enjoy, hopefully it serves you well.

There may be some bugs, I may have incorrectly copied something across, etc etc. Tell me if there's any issues.

User file is here

Usage:
Select the Source "God Machine" for the basic merits, equipment and so on. This also hides or replaces any of the default nWoD merits/equipment.
Select the Source "God Machine Extra Rolls" to add some source rolls for various merits.
Select the Source "God Machine: Supernatural" to include all the Supernatural merits and equipment!

I haven't found a way to do flat experience costs, so it's up to you to do it yourself when using the advance tab. By default, the "Roll" Beats Counter is shown and it has a tracker on the activated effects.

Likewise, the new defence system has options - Defensive Combat for Weaponry and Brawl as merits, and Athletics by default. Toggle on/off to add the defence.

Professional training bootstraps the two asset skills as Merits, and you can buy the third one for free when you hit PT3.

Vices and Virtues, I haven't figured out any way to make it a custom text field, so there's just a mechanic that blanks out the field on printed sheets/main window regardless of what you select. Likewise, there's a pair of flaws to take that give you 5 spaces to write your character's breaking points. Hacky, but what can you do? I'm not a developer with a code wand :P

As I couldn't wrangle a nice way to show a weapon's damage without increasing their roll, it's in their name. And so is the initiative penalty as that's a new thing, that's not represented in any of the fields.

I've done absolutely no changes to the Vampire material, especially with Blood and Smoke in the near future, but that's a job for someone else - I'm not a vampire player and it doesn't interest me!

No extensive changeling-related changes yet, just the fairest curse on the degeneration roll and the change to Elements 2: Elemental Fury's Weapon and Armour.

Enjoy!
Tell me if I've blooped anything.
Have fun?!

I spotted a major issue right away. You replaced a ton of merits and stuff that aren't even in hero lab. the error message says so as soon as WOD loads.

Right-click the error message, and it'll give you the option to copy it. Then, you can paste the contents of the error message here.

Got a log?

I'll have to disentangle it from add-on stuff that I've made myself to add other Merits :(

i have the tags if that's what you mean. * means the tag isn't there.

So how is this progressing? Did you find more errors or are you working on other projects at the moment?

Hi, I haven't given this a look in a little while. I've un/fortunately been really busy because I got engaged recently.

Thanks for the list of stuff though guys! I should be able to get an unattached version fairly quickly (also Google Mail keeps eating my autoresponse emails into the spam folder. :( )

File works pretty well. Thank you for this. Hopefully Lone Wolf Development and Onyx Path Publishing can work something out to continue WoD development on Hero Lab.

As a general FYI, Onyx Path has announced that GMC is going to be republished as nWoD 2nd Edition, and the existing Chronicle books will be republished as the 2nd Edition of their respective game lines. The actual rules and most of the content will be identical to the existing GMC versions except for some extra material added to the core book.

Hey guys, it looks like it's been a while since this has been posted in, so hopefully I'll still be able to get a response.

I noticed that if you've not activated this user content for a certain character, any merits that this file changed become "hidden" from use. For example, Common Sense is normally available under the core data files, but if I choose NOT to use the God Machine Chronicles, then that merit is not available for me to use, period. However, when I remove the user file, then I am able to see Common Sense on the list of merits.

Why is this user file "removing" these merits when I don't include the user content while configuring a character? I want to keep the GMC file available to me when I want to use it, but I do not want to have to move the file around each time I switch between campaigns that do or do not use these rulesets.

I'd recommend you create a duplicate game system for your various campaigns with different rule sets. That way you can add this .user file to one, but not the other, and open characters in whichever is relevant.
