Changing a units Comp

Is there a way to have a unit reassign it's Composition when it is selected as an ally? I've played around with "xcmp:" but it reassigns the Comp for the primary race as well. For example:

Race 1 has Unit A as Troop choice. Race 2 can take Unit A but, it becomes a Support choice for Race 2.

Thanks,

Keith

I haven't done this myself, but I think using lglx:race=(the race it's
being bought for) on the option with xcmp should only allow that option
to only function when it's being deployed as part of the other race.

You never played around with it long enough then :P
say your race is aa and the ally race is ba
in the unit external attributes use
xcmp:Support-race=!aa
then in ba ally the race.

Cheers,
Graham T.

I could not figure out how to do the race part. However, using the code you gave as an external attribute, ABC will not let you save it. I think that "xcmp:" is a local attribute only. I put your code in as a local attribute and that just re-assigned the Comp for the race it belongs to. It does not even show up in the allied race. Any ideas? I do appreciate the help!

Thanks,

Keith

Just got it to work. I had to remove the "!" be for the race abbreviation and add the external attribute "race:" Again, thanks for the help.

Thanks,

Keith

May apologoes, it is a local attribute.

The ! should have worked, as you would save use it
xcmp:Supp-race=!(two letters of normal race) Ie: the race designation
there would be the race that it is defined in.

As a matter of fact, if you have ever looked at the Warhammer 40k
files, that is exactly how the Harlequins are done. They also define
a type based on the same rule (!ha) and use that type to limit
composition.

Anyhow, glad I could be of a little assistance.

Cheers,
Graham T.

If usually the exclamation mark is used to denote
not in most programming languages. Army builder
has a fairly distinct base in C, does it not?

as in 'a != b' would be the value of a not equal
the value of b. i still haven't dinked around
with AB that much on that level yet though, so i
could be wrong.

Normally, I think it's !race=xx, rather than race=!xx (that's mixed me
up a few times)

You got it 100% right, except the order is a bit different in ab

race=!ha means legal when the race is not ha
