Notes on Early Access Build 130

A new Early Access release, Build 130, went out a little while ago. This release includes a lot of refinements to enhance usability, a variety of bug fixes, and the introduction of at least one important new feature. The following is a summary of the most important highlights of the release:
  • We've introduced "topic identifiers". Topic identifiers are ideally suited to two different purposes. For locations, encounters, and other things that appear on maps, the identifier can be used for the map code. For topics such as NPCs, the identifier lets you add extra differentiation, which can be useful when two NPCs in different towns have the same name.
  • The behavior of topic identifiers can either be as a prefix or a suffix, with things like map locations being treated as prefixes. The behavior is the same across all topics in a given category, so this is controlled on the category.
  • In the list of topics shown on the left, the Tools menu allows you to toggle the display of identifiers on and off. When enabled, any topics with a prefix will display with the prefix first, followed by the topic name. This makes it easy to sort your map locations by their actual designation.
  • The list of topics shown now uses a "natural sort". This means that numbers are compared as actual numbers, even when embedded within a name. The names "A1", "A2", and "A10" will now sort in that order instead of the previous alphabetic "A1", "A10", and "A2" sequence.
  • Performance issues with smart images should now be addressed, especially when lots of map pins exist on a map.
  • Painting with the reveal brush in smart images should be fast and smooth now instead of the slow and jerky. You can also hold down the <shift> key when using the reveal brush to draw in a straight line.
  • We've added a "Political" region as a new category to represent countries and other "zones of control" distinctly from geographical regions like continents, mountain ranges, etc.
  • We've added a new "Utility" tag domain with a few tags that we'll be leveraging in an upcoming release.
  • The list of tags has changed in a number of tag domains. Some tags were moved or deleted, with your content being automatically fixed up to reflect these changes.

Please post bug reports and questions about the release in separate threads.
