How to sync up against Players Edition?

Hi,

My apologies if this newbie question has been asked before.

I have a problem with Realm Works not updating Players View in my players Players Editions. I've saved, exited, synced from the main menu, but to no avail. The players don't see the same Players view as I do. Their reveal history also differs from mine. Is there a (sync) button I've missed?

First the GM must sync content up to the server (it sounds like you have done this). Then each player must sync down the content from the server (its possible you haven't done this step).

In general, we currently think of the sync process with Player Edition as an "out of game" action. Some people use it during live play, and while it's fine to do that if you want, we really didn't design it for live play. There's obviously several steps involved that would have to be done numerous times during a game, which would disrupt the game flow.

Currently we suggest that for live play, GMs and players focus on using the Player View functionality within the GM product. This allows you to show a real-time updating player view on a secondary display right at your gaming table. If you have some remote players, many screensharing apps will allow you to share this live view as well.

Player Edition is designed to give players a way to pull down all the revealed content and peruse it at their leisure between sessions, something that wasn't really feasible with the Player View feature alone.

We have discussed the possibility of enhancing Player Edition at some point in the future to allow for a more "live/real-time sync" type of experience, but that would be a significant amount of work, so we aren't making any promises about that at this time.

I should also point out that the OP mentions Player View on the Players' machines... that's not how it is used.

Player View is for the GM's version to use as Joe described... on a separate display during the session.

The Player Edition allows the players to view any of the revealed content, not just what is in the Player View currently.

I am having the same issues as Atomsmurf and I have followed the sync process Joe outlines. When my (remote) players first join a session, they each sync. Only some of them can access the full range of revealed content. Others report maps or NPCs not being available. Is this a known bug or should I raise a support ticket?

You and they should definitely raise a support ticket. I've never heard about it before.
