Replacing Multiple Existing Skills
Does anyone have a way to replay more then one skill for a game system.
What I am trying to do is to replace several skills from the Pathfinder game system with updated skills rom the DragonStar game system. This works for one skill, in my case Alchemy. When I try to add a new version of the Appraise skill, I get a host of error. So as a larger question, how can you change the text of a bunch of the existing skills, to new text for a new game system? Thanks in advance |
Go into the thing_skills.dat file. You can rename existing skills, or duplicate existing entries. All entries must have an unique id.
Hope that helps. |
Thanks.

Kevlyn, chiefweasel said he was working on Pathfinder - that's a packaged game system, not an authoring kit system, so the raw data files aren't available to users.
chiefweasel, if you're getting errors, please right-click, copy, and paste them, so that they can be diagnosed. Also, chiefweasel, please ask Pathfinder questions in the Pathfinder forum - otherwise you do get this sort of confusion as to what game system is involved, and what can and can't be done in that case. |
And you learn something new every day, so this is one of my new things. :) Thanks for the safety tip -- don't cross the streams. Got it.

Yup, had already solved the problem a bit ago. So most is right with the world. Thanks though.
Now the problem is getting them to not show up in the listings with Knowledge, Craft, and profession skills as well as on the main page. Any thoughts around that? thanks again. |

All the new skills I have created show up on the Skills tab, but are also in the listing of craft, profession, and perform skills. So they are showing in up in 2 locations. Not sure why. Shadow is looking it over for me now.
