The replacement of Lopetegui as head coach of West Ham has been confirmed by Graham Potter​

Following Wednesday's dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter has been announced as the next head coach of West Ham United. West Ham will be led by Potter, who has committed to the Premier League club for two and a half years, when they face Aston Villa in Friday night's FA Cup match. Thomas Tuchel was ultimately hired to coach the England national team, but the 49-year-old was already said to be interested in the post. Now he's going to east London to start his first job since being fired from Chelsea in April 2023. After getting his coaching start in Sweden at Estersund, Potter went on to Swansea and Brighton, where he had great success before being recruited to Chelsea.
His new job was announced the day after West Ham revealed Lopetegui's resignation on Wednesday afternoon. The Spaniard wasn't able to fulfill even half of the two-year deal manager signed in May to succeed David Moyes; he left after just seven months. The west London team has won six of its twenty Premier League games, putting them in a tie for fourteenth place with Manchester United (13th).

Seven months into his tenure as West Ham's coach, Lopetegui was let go​

The agency stated on Wednesday that the east London club had fired Julen Lopetegui, the coach, after only seven months on the job. As he departs from the Hammers, the Basque is seven points clear of relegation danger, in fourteenth position. So far this season, West Ham's stats read six victories, five draws, and nine losses.
However, they have lost their previous two games in a resounding fashion, both times against major Premier League teams: Liverpool (0-5) and Manchester City (4-1).

On Friday, January 10, Aston Villa defeated West Ham 2-1 at home in a matchup of two clubs from the first division. Villa scored a late second-half goal to secure the victory. The match took place in the FA Cup third round.
