Smart Image Question

I've imported a couple of images as smart images. When I reveal the entire image and send it to player view, the right side of the image gets cropped off.

I loaded the image as a simple image, and it appeared fine in player view.

This has happened to a couple of maps so far.

I read the smart image section of the manual, and looked at the tutorials. Am I missing something? Is there a maximum image size? The .jpg is about 14x19 inches.

Thanks for any help. :)

I'm not seeing the behavior you are describing. Have you tried clicking on the "..." button in the toolbar in player view preview tab to pull up a menu and then select "Size Window to Fit Contents"? Does that resize the window to show everything?

Is the map too big to show all the way across in player view? If so, you can adjust the zoom level to shrink it. You can tell this fairly easily by looking in the player view preview tab and see if the smaller size window has a frame on the right side of the window.

When you reveal everything, it should end up with a black border all the way around your image. We do that deliberately with smart images so players may not know how big the map really is.

Here's an image of the player's view with the smart image using the "Reveal Entire Image" selected on the left, and a picture(simple) on the right.

I hope that helps.

Here's another one. In this one I created pins for each of the lettered areas, and revealed pins for locations A and B. The pins are in the correct location on the smart image editor, but appear like this in the player view:

As before, I display a simple image on the right for comparison. And as before, the "Reveal Entire Image" option is selected on the smartimage.

Let's take this to a support case. Please submit a support case and reference this thread. I think I may need more information from you to figure out further what is going on.

If you guys don't mind an idea from the peanut gallery. I have done allot of playing with Player View and smart images. I think the issue is the size difference between the DM view vs Player view.

On the Player view section click the "Size Contents to fit window button" and see if the full map is displayed. Here is a image of the button I am talking about:

I had a similar issue, but it resolved when I deleted the snippet for the map and created a new one. I never figured out what happened, and it never happened to me again.

Actually, I can't remember if I only deleted the snippet, or if I deleted the whole topic. I didn't have much entered on the topic, so I may have just deleted the whole thing.

We are still investigating this issue, but it appears to be tied to the image being a JPG format. When I converted the image from JPG to PNG and used the PNG version, it looks to work as expected. It had a side benefit of making the images smaller.

Cool. Thanks for letting me know. I'll start saving my images as PNGs instead of JPGs.

And thanks for all of your hard work. This product is amazing. :)

Further investigation with a coworker shows that it seems to be tied to Photoshop saving out a gray scale image as a JPG. If you make it a full-color image, it works fine. PNG is better as it is also smaller in size, though, for the first image sample you posted above. :)
