Hey all,

I want to link up RW's player view to a second monitor or a tablet but somehow my graphics card is acting up and Im looking for an alternative..

One of my players owns a laptop.. Can we use Player Edition, install it on the laptop and use Player View from there?

I tried searching the forums and read anything about PE I could find but I cant find an answer.. I am aware the PE is mainly used outside of the game and as a quick way to search the datasbase during play but was wondering if it also included a way to easily share the player view..

Thanks,

Mike

Player View is a GM Edition feature. (Gamer's Guide p. 25)

Player Edition IS essentially Player View - without the live updating. The only thing you can show in Player View is revealed material. Everything that exists within Player Edition is revealed material. Consequently, if you hooked up a second monitor to a laptop running Player Edition and simply duplicated the display, the laptop would essentially become a Player View presentation!

The only thing you would not have access to is the immediate updating when you revealed new content during the game. That's a very important limitation, but in all other respects you'd be able to use Player Edition as if it were Player View.

Hope this helps!

Having Player View in a window detached will be a dream, right now duplicating diplays is rather cumbersome and really annoying, as a GM I have lots of other things running on my screen that the players should not be seeing.

Hope you and the team Rob had a great christmas, and going ot have a great relaxing new years weekend, you all have earned some down time. Take pleasure in the knowledge that my downtime over new years, well much of it will be spent in front of Realm Works and HeroLab.

Just want to say that I got the Player View working on my Ipad!

Just being able to incrimentally reveal maps to players is a godsend.. It is just so cool!

I only wish the font would be bigger on the ipad though.. I can't imagine my players are going to use the text snippets I'm sending them because the letters are very tiny.. Might be that there is an option for that that I haven't discovered yet.. Currently planning on connecting TWO ipads to RW during play: one with maps and pictures, the other one with text and further information..

Ha! Experimenting helps.. I noticed that if you increase font size in the editor, it increases the font on the player view..

Man, this software is AWESOME!

SECURITY!!! We have a reader! Red alert! Red Alert! Someone read the manual!

A detachable player view for the GM would be really nice so we could have only one computer at the table. Of course, we've already given Rob and crew a ton of other honey-do's for the new year. If you haven't taken the user survey, definitely do so as it will give some insight into what the future holds.

Haha!

Yeah, I did the survey although half of the features were sheer gibberish to me.. Im a very low level user.. But Im now building my first dungeon using tons of useful tips Ive found on the boards and the tips and tricks..

To be honest, it is really fun work.. Everything you put into RW seems to make the adventures and setting better and richer.. Playing on monday so hopefully our test run will be as good as Im expecting it will be..

Did have some annoying problems with the wifi connection between the client and my ipad.. Hopefully that was only a fluke.. If not, Ill have to go out and buy an extra monitor..

You should change the resolution on your second display if you can.

On my TV that I use for my player view, I noticed that at 1920x1080, the text was just too darned small.

I changed the resolution from my laptop to 1600x900 (one step down at aspect ratio) and the font size became PERFECT.

If you can adjust the resolution from your GM machine to effect your iPad display, drop it by one setting. It will look WAY better. And easier than going back and adjusting the font size of EVERY entry you make.
