I've created a race and am attempting to add some subrace selections to it. However when I do the new race doesn't have a Subrace field in the Race tab for character creation.

If I add the subrace as a subrace for an already created race (like Elf for instance) it shows up fine but when selected it has the red text "You may only choose one subrace".

Does anyone know of any special trick to making a subrace appear for a custom race?

I feel like I'm missing something from the creation process.

Usually the editor likes to be finicky at random when compiling the subrace. When you have trouble while you're creating something, close out of hero lab entirely and jump back in.

This also happens when you create a background, you can't see any of the traits, flaws, bonds or ideals until you reload the data files. I usually recommend just exiting out completely to clear out memory rather than using the development reload/compile options since HL compiles .user files when it starts up.

That seems to have done the trick, thanks.
