I've created my custom ranger class, replacing the old ranger class. Everything is working fine, except for the Favored Enemy ability. I get the prompt on the Ranger tab to choose a Favored Enemy, but when I chose a type of creature, it does not actually select it. I just select a creature type, and the Ranger tab still asks for me to chose my Favored Enemy as if I had not chosen yet, when clearly I had. I then thought it was a custom ability, but it isn't, and I had the Allow Class Abilities active for the Combat Style of the Ranger anyhow. So that wasn't it. I looked at the Ranger and noticed it had a ranger Linked Panel Id, but again, I did this, and that did nothing. Looking at the tags, the Ranger gets the Favored Enemies ability (cFavEnemy), but for the life of me, I can't find it in the editor. It's not a Class Special, Custom Ability, or Special. Is that the culprit? And if so, how do I fix this? I want to continue to use the Favored Enemy ability of the old ranger, but can't seem to get it to allow selection of a creature type. Any clues?

Since this isn't the first problem you've had trying to re-do the entire set of base classes, what exactly is preventing you freom using variant classes to make these changes? That seems like it'll be easier to solve than all these problems you keep running into.

I may have to try that route. To be honest, I've avoided it because I've completely ignored variant classes in the game and when I started this whole process, I didn't know that route would achieve the same results. As I understood variant classes, they do a "this replaces this other thing at this level", whereas I want to just remove things in some cases, and make whole new things in some of the other cases. If variant classes allow for that, then I'll give it a try. If these are just stupid questions, I'll stop asking them, as I get the feeling I'm trying your patience, which I'd never intended.

Variant classes are designed to handle both the "replaces just this level" things like racial substitution levels or the "re-work the class" things from Unearthed Arcana.

I've made several variant classes using all new abilities, so they certainly allow for both your cases.

Well, that made everything a helluva lot easier. On a positive note, it also allowed me to get rid of alot of code for my work around cases that I don't need now. Thanks!
